We spent some time in math this week learning about place value then moved on to measurement. After reading a funny story about the need for standard measurement we explored measuring in feet and inches.
We took our monarch study to the Science lab this week. 2nd graders were able to look at butterfly wings under the microscope. I wonder what amazing things they know about those clever wings. We studied The Little Yellow Leaf in reading , learning about change and how having a friend makes change easier. We are working on math facts in Unit 2, discovering how knowing doubles and 10 facts can help with fact we don't know. Check out the Read-a-thon link on the link page if you need to sign up and misplace your info sheet. The conference sign up page is there too. Enjoy a wonderful long weekend!
We kicked off the pre April vacation week by sharing our continent projects. Then rapped it up with a quick trip to check out erosion and erosion remediation along the Green and Hoosic Rivers..
We had a successful first week getting to know one another and learning classroom routines. Here's to a wonderful year learning together! Observing our monarch caterpillars. Making new friends while playing a math game
